Too Cool for School Pumpkin 24k Gold Mask Review
Too Cool for School is a creatively kooky k-beauty skincare brand. They’re famous for their egg mousse packs, dinosaurs blushes, and pumpkin pack line. When a friend got me this mask for my birthday, I was really excited to try it out!
What’s in it?
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Diphenylsiloxy Phenyl Trimethicone, Glycereth-26, PEG- 60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Colloidal Platinum, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Fruit Extract, Gold, Papain, Bromelain, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Arginine, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Fragrance (Parfum), Disodium EDTA.
What’s good about what’s in it?
- Sodium hyaluronate is a humectant that’s the water-soluble version of hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the skin that attracts and maintains moisture
- Pumpkin fruit extract is a great source of antioxidants, essential fatty acids that occur in the skin barrier, and vitamin E. These ingredients promote collagen synthesis and cell turnover for brighter, smoother skin.
- Gold - it’s a bit gimmicky, and there’s no strong scientific sources that back up its topical benefits. I was a bit disappointed to see this ingredient headlined in the mask.
Who is it for?
People who want a premium treat to plump up and hydrate their skin.
This is a one-time use, 30 minute sheet mask. The biocellulose fiber is sturdy and holds a lot of essence, which was great. Sometimes I get these flimsy sheet masks that drip essence everywhere, and I have to gingerly unfold it because I am afraid it will tear. Not so with the Pumpkin 24k Gold Mask!
The essence has a slight, fruity fragrance. It’s very pleasant and not at all overbearing, though it does not smell like pumpkin. The texture of the essence is like a viscous gel, so it isn’t messy. I did not have to wash my face afterward.
This mask made my skin feel smooth, hydrated, and ridiculously plump for up to 2 days! I wore this at night, and putting on my makeup the next morning was considerably easier - my primer and moisturizer were sucked into my face.
This is available in the USA in Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, and other retailers for $8.
This might be my favorite one-time sheet mask! I saw a noticeable difference in the elasticity and bounciness of my skin. Yes, the gold is gimmicky, and yes, the price is a bit steep, but I would invest in this mask for special occasions. I will definitely pick one up the next time I am going to a friend’s wedding to get that pumpkin-infused radiant glow.
