SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion Review

It’s empty! Here’s my take on the SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion:

SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion Review

The Famous Sake Story

SK-II’s headliner ingredient across its brand portfolio is Pitera, a mix of fermented amino acids and vitamins that approximate skin’s Natural Moisturizing Factors. The SK-II lore says that Pitera was discovered when the brand saw the youthful hands of sake brewers and researched what miracle ingredients could be responsible. In addition to Pitera, the lotion also contains salicylic acid and lactic acid for pore decongestion and brightening.

In Asia, toners are often called lotions”, so don’t expect a body butter. This has the consistency of water. I would always tap it on with my hands at night after cleansing, though directions say that you can use it in the morning and evening. However, I try to stay away from using acids in the morning due to increased sun sensitivity.

The directions also suggest using a cotton pad for application, but at this price point, I’m using my hands. At the very least, I want those mythical sake brewer hands!

This little bottle came as part of a tester set and actually lasted for like, 2 months. I found that it had a cumulative effect - I couldn’t tell you exactly what it was doing, but my skin just glowed after two weeks of using this. I think I might actually like this better (and recommend it more) than their classic Essence because of the extra kick from the AHAs.

Super loved this for imparting a radiant glow. I liked it even better than their classic Facial Treatment Essence, which I’m only 60% of the way through after 6 months.

Like I mentioned before, I bought this lotion, a mini Essence, and a sheet mask as part of a $99 set. The full size of the SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion retails for $76 for 5.6 oz (165 mL).
