Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask Review
The Lip Sleeping Mask from kbeauty brand Laneige is an Internet darling. With over 4,000 reviews on Sephora and dozens of rave reviews on the r/AsianBeauty subreddit, I almost didn’t want to add to the noise. But I’ve been so impressed by this little jar that I had to add my voice to the choir.
Moisture Wrap Technology
The classic Lip Sleeping Mask comes in a pink tub and berry flavor. It smells and feels like a lip smoothie, containing raspberries, strawberries, cranbierres, goji berries, and blueberries. From time to time, Laneige releases other limited edition flavors, but I haven’t tried them.
What all of the lip masks share is something that the brand has trademarked as “Moisture Wrap” technology. From what I can tell, this is fancy branding for their mix of emollients (shea butter, waxes) and moisturizers (beta-glucan, sodium hyaluronate).
Lip Mask Experience
The tub comes with a small silicone spatula, but I prefer using my fingers. (It’s easier for me to clean my fingers before and after than the spatula every time.) The texture is a slighty sticky coating that I dab over my lips. You can definitely feel it there; It’s not a weightless experience.
In the morning, the mask washes off naturally as I brush my teeth. This leaves smooth, supple lips behind - the perfect base for a lip crayon (I’m currently obsessed with the Clinique Chubby Sticks).
The mask retails for $20 at Sephora, though you can sometimes find it for less on Korean beauty sites such as Yesstyle. $20 is a great deal, as a little of this mask goes a long way, meaning that this jar lasts forever. The amount pictured above is about 6 months of nightly use, and I’m not even half way!
The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask has cemented itself as a critical piece of my nighttime routine. If you’ve ever struggled with chapped lips, this mask will last you a long time and is worth the splurge.
